RCFCA Hunting Procedures

Revised 6/27/2020

As outlined in the Hunting Policy for the RCFCA as Amended, the Board will establish each year procedures and guidelines to be followed for hunting RCFCA Open Space.

The following procedures and guidelines apply for the 2020-2021 hunting season:

  • The hunting of deer and other game on RCFCA Open Space is limited to archery hunting. (Equipment specifications are dictated by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and must be followed accordingly.)

  • Only those approved by the Hunting Coordinator will be permitted to hunt RCFCA Open Space. Those who desire to hunt RCFCA Open Space are required to make their request to the RCFCA President who will pass the request to the Hunting Coordinator for review and consideration. The Hunting Coordinator will review and advise the requesting party within ten (10) days of the request if said request is approved. A copy of the decision will be communicated in writing to the requesting party with a copy to the RCFCA President.

  • Each hunter will be issued a written permission tag and parking permit for the 2020-2021 season by the Hunting Coordinator. A list of all approved hunters will be sent to the RCFCA President by September 15, 2020 and any time thereafter if additional hunters are approved.

  • The number of approved hunters for the 2020-2021 season will be no less than five (5) hunters. These hunters should be prepared to make RCFCA Open Space their primary hunting ground to maximize the aggregate number of kills for the 2020-2021 season.

  • New for the 2020-2021 season, each approved hunter will be permitted to invite a “guest hunter” to join the approved hunter when hunting on RCFCA Open Space.

  • To access the Open Space across any private property the hunter must receive prior consent from the property owner.

  • All vehicles are to be parked off the road on Open Space (Please note that there may be times when the ground is soft and the driving on or parking of a vehicle on Open Space could cause a rut. When these conditions are present, the vehicle should be parked on the roadway). Parking on private property is only allowed with the owner’s permission.

  • Before proceeding to hunt any of the Open Space the hunter must inform the Hunting Coordinator at least four (4) hours in advance to ensure that proper placement and spacing of hunters is accomplished.

  • Upon acquiring a deer, the hunter is required to document the harvest clearly indicating the area where it was taken. Documentation must include a copy of the harvest tag and should be provided to the Hunting Coordinator within twenty-four (24) hours of the kill.

  • All deer must be field dressed out of open view of homes and/or roads and must be covered when being removed from the Open Space.

  • Deer must be removed promptly always showing respect for homeowner sensitivities.

  • Hunters are not to smoke, light fires of any kind, consume alcoholic beverages while hunting or litter on RCFCA Open Space or homeowner property.

  • Shots taken must not be made in the direction of any house or structure and must be compliant with established game laws.

  • Within forty-five (45) days following the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season, the Hunting Coordinator will issue a report to the RCFCA Board that sets forth the number of kills for the season, number per month, by zone, by hunter and by sex (doe vs. buck).
